Guest Designer – Karenladd

Happy SpringtimeWelcome to the month of June! Today we have another lovely card from our guest designer Karen. She shares her work on her flickr account karenladd, and always links up the prettiest cards to the Cropstop challenge! I love the way she used the same embossing folder to create her main image and then again as part of the card base!

Here’s what Karen has to say about today’s creation: “I was thrilled to win two embossing folders by Couture Creations as a prize from Cropstop, for Challenge #126. I inked up the Smooch folder with green pigment ink  and ran it through my Sizzix Big Shot for the focal panel, and die cut it with a stitched rectangle die by Lawn Fawn. I then ran my white card base through, with the same embossing folder.and layered the focal panel onto a mat, and the card base. The die-cut sentiment ( Happy Sash die) is by Poppystamps/Memory Box , and the flower die is by C.C. Designs. I added texture to my flower center with the Swiss Dots folder by Cuttlebug. My mat and die-cut sentiment were inked with Brilliance pigment ink in Pearlescent Orchid, with ink blending foam by Inkssentials.  I make all of my card bases with  my Fiskars paper trimmer and  Scor-Buddy , and Tombow Mono-adhesive and Scor-tape are my favrorite adhesives .

Card making is one of my favorite ways to relax, and is much easier than scrapbooking, which is how I started. I’ve found that entering challenges online keeps me motivated to try new techniques and to dig into my stash of papers, stamps, dies and inks on a regular basis. I resisted buying a die cut machine for years but when I saw how embossing folders add quick and easy texture to even the simplest card, I had to get my Sizzix Big Shot. The Smooch embossing folder was perfect for springtime projects and I loved putting this project together for my guest design spot. Thank you Cropstop!”

We’d love to see the creative ways you use embossing folders so stop by the CURRENT CHALLENGE and link up your projects that use supplies from companies carried in the Cropstop store! Hope to see you there!

Yay, Karen!!! Congratulations on your guest spot here! Such a pretty card and clever way of using that wonderful embossing folder! I haven’t inked up an embossing folder for a long time, but you have inspired me. Genius idea to use the springy images of the folder as your main images and embellish using the sweet flower and die-cut sentiment. Your pretty mats and layering really draw attention to the sweet little bird. Also, I love how your Nuvo drops echo the Swiss dots in your flower center. Wonderful use of the Crop Stop products!! Fabulous card!
