Stephanie Wright (of Sasha Belle Designs) is our guest designer for today! She’s sharing a fun technique called “Faux Metal” that she used to create this beautiful CAS card!
I ask Stephanie for instructions on creating the faux metal look and she graciously sent me these directions:
Step One: Mask off edges of 3.75″ x 5″ card with 1/2 inch wide washi tape
Step Two: Using a blending tool, ink the panel from the top left corner with Picked Raspberry Distress ink – as you moved diagonally to the bottom left corner, bring in Spun Sugar and Cracked Pistachio finishing up with Evergreen Bough
Step Three: Carefully peel off washi tape and apply perfect pearls over inked surface. (Because the Distress ink stays wet for a little while it acts as a binder for the Perfect Pearls.) She used the brush that came with her perfect pearls to apply them and then buffed away the excess.
Step Four: Set the Perfect Pearls by spraying water into the air with a mini-mister and then waving the panel through the mist. (She did this 2-3 times)
Step Five: Dry emboss the white panel with the Cricut Cuttlebug Embossing Folder – Rosette Cluster.
Step Six: Trim (with Fiskars paper trimmer) and mat panel on black cardstock. Adhere the die cut sentiment and hearts (Lawn Fawn – Scripty Hello and Hearts) using Ranger Multi Medium Matte liquid adhesive
Paper-saving tip from Stephanie: “I die cut the hello and the hearts from the black piece of cardstock that I used for matting before adhering the white panel on top of it. I do this all the time to help stretch my supplies.”
Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us this month, Stephanie! Now it’s your turn to show us what you’ve been working on! Stop by the CURRENT CHALLENGE and link up your creativity using products from companies Cropstop Carries in the store! Hope to see you there…
