Guest Designer – Rebecca Yahrling

Espresso 2017 002We’re back for another guest design post by Rebecca Yahrling (here’s her Flickr gallery). This week she’s sharing a lovely coffee themed card along with instructions for creating a beautiful background!

Here’s her directions for putting this sweet card together:

“1. Using your Fiskars paper trimmer, cut 4 1/2″x11 1/2″ piece of orange cardstock (Core’dinations) and fold in half.

2. Cut a 4 1/4″x5 1/2″ piece of cream cardstock and using a stencil (I used Elizabeth Craft Designs stencil “Flower”). Blend your ink color (Tim Holtz distress ink – abandoned coral) in an ombre pattern (I started at the bottom inking the darkest and working my way up, lighter & lighter). Adhere this panel to the orange card base using double sided tape.

3. Cut a 1 3/4″x5 1/2″ strip of kraft cardstock and emboss using Sizzix “On the Go” in a vertical pattern.  Adhere to the left side of the ombre panel, leaving a 7/16″ edge. Die cut another kraft strip 1 1/8″x4 1/2″ and emboss “on the Go” in a horizontal pattern; adhere to the inside bottom of the card.

4. Die cut the word “espresso” (Sugar Pea Deigns espresso die) five times from the same orange c/s as the card base and adhere together using Tombow liquid glue. Adhere to the card as shown.

5. Adhere three copper colored sequins as shown using Aleene’s tacky glue.

I’ve been wanting to try the ombre method of inking for awhile. I think it’s a pretty look for a background. And it was pretty easy to do.”
