Here we are at the end of January already and before you know it Valentine’s Day will be here! Today I’m sharing a fun tutorial for making textured embellishments for your cards. Let’s get started…
- I cut a heart shape out of brown card stock
- I inked the front side of it with Versamark Watermark ink
- I added a layer of Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE)
- Using my heat gun, I melted the UTEE
- Working quickly – while the surface was still wet I added another layer of UTEE and heat set
- I repeated the process 4 times
- While the last layer was still wet I placed a background stamp on top and pressed lightly (I inked my stamp with Versamark Watermark first)
- After letting it set for just a bit (maybe 30 seconds) I removed the heart and trimmed away the excess UTEE with sharp scissors
- I added some Picket Fence Distress Stain and set my embellishment aside to dry while I made my card
- Ran a piece of kraft card stock through my Fiskars paper crimper
- Die cut a piece of red card stock with the Mixed Media Dies (Tim Holtz)
- Added some natural burlap string across the bottom
- Die cut the sentiment using the Sentiment Words Thinlits (Tim Hotlz)
- Added some Prima Flowers and Pearls to my heart embelishment
- For even more dimension, I popped my heart up off the card using Mounting Tape
- Inside I added a SU sentiment in Walnut Stain Distress Oxide

What a great idea to stamp into the UTEE like that. Beautiful card!
Very cool results with that technique, love the crimping and the corner die and your sweet flowers too!
