Ken Oliver Color Burst Products

SCROLL DOWN FOR OUR CURRENT CHALLENGE

Hello, friends of CropStop and craft lovers!  It’s Karen Letchworth here today sharing a fun project I created using some FABULOUS products from CropStop.  This project is somewhat “outside my comfort zone”, but I think that’s something we all need to do from time to time.  When I was first sent these Ken Oliver Color Bursts, I had no idea what they were or what to do with them.  SO…..I went to YouTube and looked around.  WOW!  There were so many great ideas for using these fun powders to create a watercolor look.  I really encourage you to check out the YouTube videos, and to pick up some of these FABULOUSLY FUN products.

CSColorBurstcardI started with a blank piece of white paper.  Next, I stamped a floral image several times using white ink.  Then, I covered the stamped images with white embossing powder, and I heat embossed them.  They didn’t show up a whole lot against the white paper. SOooooooo……I squirted a few drops of the Ken Oliver Color Burst crystals (this project uses the Alizarin Crimson) into a small dish with a few drops of water.  I used a paint brush and gently stroked on the Color Burst “paint” over the embossed image.  Suddenly, the flowers POPPED up, and the coloring gave my card such a lovely ombre effect.

CSColorBurstCloseIt was such an easy project, and really gave my card a lovely look.  Of course, you could change the deepness of the pink/red color by adding more squirts of the Ken Oliver Color Burst powder to the water.  I stamped a sentiment using Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink Pad onto a cream piece of cardstock, and backed it with a bright pink cardstock.  Then, I aded a few sequins for sparkle and wrapped several lengths of Ivory Burlap String around the card to set it off.  Like I said, VERY easy and simple, but a lovely card that is something completely new to me.  These lovely Ken Oliver Color Burst powders come in six gorgeous colors, and can even be combined on projects (as you will see in some of the YouTube videos).  I encourage you to give it a try.

CropStop has SO MANY great products that will make your cards and projects shine.  AND….we also have a FUN CHALLENGE going on every month on the CropStop Blog where you can play along for a chance to win some CropStop goodies of your own.  We really hope you will join the challenges.  We love seeing your fabulous and creative projects, and we also enjoy making new friends.
