Since tomorrow is Independence Day here in the USA, I have a patriotic card to share with you today. It features a fun 3D star and I’m sharing both the template and a mini tutorial for creating your own.
Step Two: Score from each point to the center
Step Three: Fold on score lines and pinch each point to make your star 3D
To create my card, I started with a piece of Neutral colored Core’dinations cardstock. I embossed it with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder (Darice), and sanded it. To add a bit of extra color, I used my ink applicator and inked the edges in Gathered Twigs Distress Ink (Tim Holtz).
For the middle panel, I embossed a piece of blue cardstock with the stars Embossing Folder (Darice) and rubbed my white pigment inkpad over the top for added dimension. I added a strip of white cardstock underneath and a pretty piece of punched lace made with the embroidered lace border punch from Martha Stewart. I tied some natural colored burlap string around the panel and added my 3D star inked in Fired Brick Distress Ink (Tim Holtz). The sentiment comes from the American Collection (Amy Design).
